Partial Dentures

Partial Dentures – Types and Materials

Partial dentures may be created out of acrylic or out of a metal and acrylic composite. They are designed based on your specific needs and anatomy to create a dental prosthetic that preserves the remaining teeth and oral tissues and which is self-cleansing. Generally speaking, partial dentures made of metal are preferable, as they are thinner, more hygienic and structurally superior. Partials made of acrylic are typically used as temporary dentures.

Benefits of Partial Dentures

Removable partial dentures may help limit tooth movement for your existing teeth. They also allow you to chew food properly, which improves digestion. The chewing forces are distributed evenly over the entire surface area of the remaining teeth and soft tissues to create a more balanced bite and better oral function.
